TEMPORARY NOTICE:

St Cuthbert's Church is temporarily closed for improvement works.

During July, August and September 2026 all church services will be held in Norham Village Hall.  Find out more here.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

Our worship is at the centre of our life as a church, but the life of Norham Church is more than what happens on a Sunday morning. There are numerous ways in which many people already contribute to the life and worship of Norham Church, and various opportunities for getting involved, such as:

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

MUSIC

HELPING AT CHURCH

  • Helping with the flower arranging. Contact Jane Bannister on 01289 382323, or Christine Jackson on 01289 382028.

  • Preparing the church for our worship on a Sunday morning.

  • Welcoming people to our services of worship.

  • Reading the Bible during a service.

  • Leading the prayers of intercession.

  • Serving at the altar and assisting with the chalice.

  • Helping with refreshments after a service. Contact Janet Young on 01289 382736.

Where a contact is not listed, please contact the Vicar.

St Cuthbert’s Church has a friendly and lively congregation.

You are welcome to attend any of our services of worship. At other times you might like to look round the church, sit quietly, and/or light a prayer candle (and, if you like, make a prayer request) in the chapel on the south side of the church (on the right as you face the altar). We like to think that Norham Church belongs to everyone in the parish, and that everyone in the parish belongs to Norham Church.

ST CUTHBERT'S CHOIR

Norham Church has a small, good four-part adult choir, an excellent two-manual organ, and the delightful St Cuthbert’s Junior Singers who sing on the first Sunday of the month and on other special occasions.

Practices are on Thursday evenings from 5pm to 6.30pm.

St Cuthbert’s Junior Singers also meet on Thursdays from 3.30pm to 4.30pm (see below).

The choir is led by Patricia Bonia;

Fern Lea, West Street, Norham, Berwick-upon-Tweed, TD15 2LB
Telephone: (01289) 382256

Email: julianbonia@btinternet.com

Our organist, Julian Bonia (contact details as above), restored the Binns organ in 2000 and is happy to talk to anyone who is interested in the instrument.

Please visit the St Cuthbert's Choir page for info on forthcoming concerts.

ST CUTHBERT'S JUNIOR SINGERS

We are a group of mostly younger members who sing for fun. We enjoy singing a wide range of worship songs, pop songs, rounds, etc.

We practise weekly on Thursdays during term time at St Cuthbert’s Church, Norham, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. We also have the opportunity to lead First Sunday Worship and take part in other village activities.

We welcome all children of any ability from Year 2 upwards. We would like some adult volunteers (preferably singers) who would be willing to spend 45 minutes with the children on a rota basis.

If you and/or your children are interested in being involved, please contact me, Sarah Bougourd on stcuthbertsjs@gmail.com

LINKS WITH LOCAL SCHOOLS

NORHAM ST CEOWULF'S C of E PRIMARY SCHOOL

Norham Church and Norham St Ceolwulf's C of E Primary School have a good working relationship. On most Tuesdays in school, either the Vicar leads Collective Worship, or the Open the Book Team (comprising parents and church members) brings a Bible story to life.

Here is some more information about Norham St Ceolwulf's C of E Primary School.

LONGRIDGE TOWERS SCHOOL

Norham Church and Longridge Towers School have a good working relationship. The Vicar leads assemblies in both the Senior and Junior Schools once a term, and the Junior School, plus parents and grandparents, use the church for an assembly in the run-up to Christmas and Easter each year.

Here is some more information about Longridge Towers School.
