Escape the January/February lockdown gloom by drawing! Part 2.

Writer: Sue Sue

Drawing under a box.

All you need for the following activity are pencils and paper and a box. You can reuse wrapping paper for drawing on.

Have you ever tried drawing without looking at your picture?

I tried it for the first time recently and it was great fun. You need a box with a hole in the side, that is big enough to put your hand through. Lay paper underneath. I used white ink on black paper and black ink on brown paper, but you can just as easily use a pencil and paper.

Find some things that you would like to draw.

I had shells, a tea pot and a tea cosy!

Look carefully at your chosen object and try to draw what you can see, without looking at your drawing at all.

30 second shell drawing with no peeking! (paper under box)

A quick drawing of the same shell when allowed to look at the drawing as well as the object.

Elephant tea cosy drawing with no peeking. It was very hard to know where the pattern was!

Get in touch if you have any questions about this activity or the previous ones.

I would love to hear from you if you have a go at this challenge.

We could publish some of your drawings. Please contact me, Sue Churchill, at norhamartsgroup@gmail.com.
