Natural Environment group_edited.jpg

Natural Environment Group

The Group aims to safeguard the high quality of Norham's environment and to enrich it for future generations. The group has developed a number of projects, including a detailed survey of wildlife and wildflowers around Norham, a community orchard, installing observation hides along the river bank, and encouraging wildlife photography. We aim to involve the local community, including the village school, so that everyone can learn about, appreciate, and enjoy our natural environment.

If you would like to be involved please get in touch.

Norham in Bloom copy_edited.jpg

Norham in Bloom

We began our work in 2017/18 when there was very little in the way of flowers around the village. Supported by grants and donations we have been able to buy plants, planters, tools and equipment, and we have organised beetle drives, open gardens, plant sales, and other activities. The 2,500 crocus bulbs we have planted look lovely along the Jubilee Field wall in late February. There are many tasks to be completed: weeding, edging, watering, painting planters, and growing plants to name a few, and help is always appreciated at fundraising events.

Please get in touch if you would like to help.

Petanque.jpeg

Norham Petanque Club

The objective in pentanque is to score points by having boules closer to the target than your opponent after all boules have been thrown. This is achieved by projecting boules closer to the small target ball, called a cochonet, or by hitting the opponents' boules away from the target whilst standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground.

We meet on Saturday mornings at the Norham Pentanque ground, situated in South Lane, Norham. Norham Pentanque Club is affiliated to the Scottish Pentanque Association and takes part in the South Scotland League which is a friendly league amongst clubs in the Scottish Borders.

Village Band Church Concert

Norham Village Band

Our great team, who simply gather to play for the love of music. We play a number of public recitals throughout the year at venues such as the Summer Fair and on Remembrance Day, but we mainly just enjoy meeting up once a week to play a wonderful, eclectic mix of music both modern and traditional. Under the direction of our conductor, Nick Elwood, we always welcome new players.

Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at Norham village Hall (TD15 2LQ) from 6:30pm to 8pm. You are guaranteed a warm welcome.

Please get in touch if you would like to join us.
